Privacy Policy for WheelDeal

This Privacy Policy explains how Tamerio (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the WheelDeal application (the “App”), a Shopify app that lets merchants add a gamified spin-to-win discount widget to their online store. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to merchants who install the App on their Shopify store, and to visitors of a merchant’s storefront who interact with the WheelDeal widget. The App is designed to operate with a minimal data footprint and does not collect or store personally identifiable information about storefront shoppers (such as names, email addresses, mailing addresses, or payment details).

2. Information we collect

From merchants (at installation and during use):

• Your store’s myshopify.com domain and basic store information provided by Shopify.
• An authentication access token issued by Shopify, and — depending on the session type — the name and email address of the staff account that installed the App. This is used solely to authenticate the App’s requests to Shopify on your behalf.
• Your discount configuration, which the App reads from your store using Shopify’s read_discounts permission, so you can link discount codes to wheel prizes.
• App settings you create, such as your spend threshold, wheel prize segments, appearance options, and related configuration.

From storefront visitors (when the widget is active):

• The App reads the visitor’s current cart contents (item totals) in the browser to display progress toward the merchant’s spend threshold. This happens in the visitor’s browser and is not stored by us in a personally identifiable form.
• When a visitor spins the wheel, we log an anonymous cart token (an opaque identifier generated by Shopify for the shopping session) together with the prize awarded and a timestamp. This token is used only to enforce a single spin per cart and to provide the merchant with basic, aggregate usage statistics. It is not linked to any customer’s name, email, account, or payment information.

3. How we use information

• To provide and operate the App’s features (displaying the widget, running the wheel, and applying won discount codes to the cart).
• To enforce fair use, such as limiting each cart to a single spin.
• To show merchants aggregate performance statistics (for example, total spins and prizes awarded).
• To authenticate and communicate with Shopify’s APIs on the merchant’s behalf.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

4. Service providers

We use the following trusted third parties to run the App. They process data only to provide their services to us:

• Shopify — the platform the App runs on and the source of store and discount data.
• Render — application hosting.
• Neon — database hosting for the App’s settings and usage logs.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain a merchant’s settings and usage logs for as long as the App remains installed. When you uninstall the App, Shopify notifies us and we disable your configuration; your store’s data is then deleted in accordance with Shopify’s data-retention requirements (typically within 48 hours of the shop-redaction request Shopify sends after uninstall). Because the App stores no customer personal data, customer data-deletion requests are handled as a no-op. Merchants may also request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us.

6. GDPR and privacy-law compliance

The App implements Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact). Because the App does not store personal data about individual shoppers, we have no customer personal data to return or erase in response to customer requests; the shop/redact webhook triggers deletion of the merchant’s store configuration and usage logs.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with reputable hosting providers. Access tokens and configuration are stored in a managed database with restricted access. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.

8. Cookies and tracking

The App does not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. To remember that a cart has already spun the wheel, the App stores a value on the shopping cart itself using Shopify’s standard cart attributes — not a browser tracking cookie.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is intended for use by merchants operating a business and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
